this is for my sister's birthday present, thank you for everyone who helped! ^-^
I spent about 6 hours making this, starting from when I go home from a basketball game at 9:30-1:00 at night, then some more time spent putting on the frosting and decorating it the next day. if you look at the top u can see a stick with something on top, it's a gummy bear, in fact, the cake has many gummy bears being stabbed through cuz I was getting a little crazy from all the work and little sleep... eh, it was worth it.
I didn't want to spend more time making all the cake from scratch, so I used Haggen's cake mix, strawberry for the top and chocolate for the bottom. I used a Betty Crocker's dome shape cake mold, you've probably seen the comercials for one, my mom got it from somewhere, but it's pretty cool for a t.v. thingie^0^...even though we didn't buy it from the t.v.... oh well
I made cupcakes with the extra chocolate batter and then toothpicked them into the cake.... it was fun ^-^

have you tried using fondants? I think it's much easier to use when you're doing molds and figures in cakes
